Description:
A firefighter was struck by a rolling rock and suffered a suspected broken ankle while assigned to the Anvil Fire, Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest, Oregon. A U.S. Coast Guard hoist-capable helicopter was requested and used due to the location of the injury: a very remote, deep canyon bottom and in heavy smoke. The firefighter was transported to the hospital and diagnosed with a broken fibula.
