Cherry Creek Fire Insect Sting 2024

    A crewmember of a Type 2 crew stepped on a wasp nest and received multiple stings on the Cherry Creek Fire, Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forest. The crew was engaged in night-time initial attack cutting fire line and clearing brush. The crewmember started to experience allergic reaction and had difficulty breathing. A Forest Service EMT provided epinephrine. Firefighter was transported from fire to hospital by ground ambulance, dispatched through Grangeville Interagency Dispatch and Idaho County. The firefighter was released from hospital/ER later that night.
