Description:
Colorado Fire Camp (CFC) is a privately run training center in central Colorado that has been training wildland firefighters for almost 20 years. CFC students run through the S-212 or, as of May of 2023, the Developing Thinking Sawyers (DTS) curriculum. The emphasis focuses on: Objective, Hazards, Leans, Escape route, Cut plan (OHLEC). During field day operation on a complex felling operation that included multiple binds and a stuck saw, a student following their planned escape route was struck on the head and shoulders by a 20-foot-long limb was around 5 inches in diameter at the point that it struck.
