Description:
On August 10, 2024, resources on the Falls/Telephone Fires on the Malheur National Forest in Oregon noticed frequent tactical radio traffic coming across the command channel. The high volume of radio traffic on command interrupted time-sensitive Incident Within an Incident (IWI) communication. The Alaska CIMT Team 1 Communications Unit was able to determine that the crews they were hearing had been issued handheld radios from the national fire cache.
