  • Description:

    The Gallinas Canyon Pile Prescribed Burn 2022 is located on the Santa Fe National Forest Pecos-Las Vegas Ranger District in New Mexico. Ignition of the prescribed burn occurred over several days in January 2022, under varying amounts of snow cover. The prescribed fire resulted in a wildfire in April 2022 (Calf Canyon Fire), which eventually merged with the Hermits Peak Fire, becoming the largest wildfire in New Mexico history to date.
