  • Description:

    On August 15, 2023, a load of 10 smokejumpers were dispatched to the Holiday Fire on the Six Rivers National Forest in Northern California. After the jumpers were on the ground the fire activity significantly increased due to thunderstorms in the area. Based on current and expected fire activity, the jumpers made the decision to leave the jump spot and their gear and utilize their planned escape route. The end result was the loss of eight sets of jump gear and additional cargo.
