Description:
On Monday, August 23, 2021, a Type 2 Initial Attack (IA) contract crew (Crew 1) from Southern Oregon engaged on a 50-acre slopover south of a major control line on the Gales Fire, Middle Fork Complex, Willamette National Forest. A live tree came down through the middle of the crew, killing Frumencio Ruiz-Carapia.
