Chainsaw Cut -
Description:
A hand crew member sustained a stab/cut injury to the forearm from a chainsaw while assigned to the Mosquito Fire, Tahoe National Forest, California. While carrying a chainsaw on the shoulder while walking down a steep drainage, the crew member lost footing and fell. The chainsaw’s dogs cut into the individual’s forearm. The crew member was able to hike to a drop point to be assessed by line medics, then transported via agency vehicle to a hospital. The patient received stitches at the hospital and was released to light duty for three days.
