    As the 2016 fire season unfolded in the Great Basin and the Northern Rockies, several reports of fireline medical emergencies that involved Short Haul helicopters and the Traverse Rescue Stretcher (TRS) emerged.
    While the specifics of these incidents are documented elsewhere, this document summarizes and explains several matters associated with Short Haul procedures (timeframes, equipment) as well as how TRS can and cannot be incorporated into Short Haul protocols.
