August Complex Tatham Fire Fatality 2020

On August 31, 2020, a Task Force of Type 6 engines was assigned to the Tatham Fire located within the August Complex, on the Mendocino National Forest (MNF), in Tehama County, CA. During firefighting operations, one of the engines assigned to the Task Force backed up and off the road. The engine then burned over. The series of events resulted in the death of firefighter Diane Jones, while another firefighter suffered burn injuries. The firefighter that suffered burn injuries was transported by air to a burn center for treatment.
