Description:
On 7/25/24 a member of a contract engine crew was hit by a tree on the Malheur National Forest. The patient remained alert and conscious with tingling and pain. An Oregon National Guard Blackhawk was utilized to medevac the firefighter to Boise, Idaho. Once at the hospital, initial diagnosis included a burst-fractured vertebrae and a broken ankle (requiring surgery). Diagnosis was updated later to include damage to several vertebrae and a broken scapula. As of 7/29/24, the firefighter was still in the hospital.
