Description:
On the Lake Fire on the Los Padres National Forest, California, a member of an Interagency Hotshot Crew (IHC) was hit on head by a 4-6” diameter tree branch. The crewmember experienced a loss of consciousness, had no event recall and demonstrated an altered level of consciousness. Incident medical personnel on the Division (a Medic and EMT) assisted, and the Crewmember was flown off the Division to Santa Barbara, CA Airport, and then taken by ground ambulance to Cottage Hospital. The crewmember was treated and released with orders to take a day off to rest before returning to work in light-duty status.
