Description:
While working on the Monument Ridge Prescribed Fire, a crewmember on a Wildland Fire Module (WFM1) experienced a tree strike to the head and shoulders as the crewmember was walking through the black. The crewmember was evaluated on-scene, and it was determined that no loss of consciousness was sustained. The crewmember was subsequently flown to Hoback Junction Guard Station where ground transportation took them to St. John’s hospital in Jackson Hole, WY. The crewmember was diagnosed with a stable fracture to the C1 vertebrae and released on 7/3/24 with a c-spine collar and instructions for use.
