Description:
While preparing to assist with a firing operation on the Tamarack Fire, which had crossed from California into Western Nevada, resources noticed a spot fire on the green side of the road. Though a dozer attempted to line the spot, it was soon evident that the spot would not be controlled, and resources decided to leave the area. During their escape to the safety zone, a Type 6 engine became stuck trying to turn around. It was later determined that the engine was stuck because it was connected to a hoselay. Firefighters went to assist the Type 6 engine, and in the process one firefighter received burns to the elbow, face and neck. Eventually all resources escaped without further injury.
